Apply For My Nsfas 2023-2024: The National Student Financial Aid Scheme aims in supporting South African eligible students with funding. To access your NSFAS funding progress, you are required to apply Online. This year, the NSFAS application cycle will run for a period of four months starting from, 3 August until the closing date of 30 November. No late applications will be accepted. Applicants are encouraged to apply between the application cycle and should be on time to avoid application rejection from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) authorities. They must also prepare all the relevant documents for the NSFAS application and apply by following the simple steps in this article.

Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?

  • All South African citizens
  • All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
  • Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
  • A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
  • Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS

  1. Provide your own cellphone number and email address
  2. You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate
  3. National ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
  4. The evidence of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
  5. The proof of income of your parents, guardian, or spouse.
  6. If you are a SASSA grant recipient, you don’t need to provide any evidence of income.
  7. All Applicants with a disability should provide and submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
  8. An applicant who is known as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application

  1. Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab
  3. Create a myNSFAS account. If you don’t know how to create, click HERE
  4. Click on the ‘APPLY’ tab
  5. Update your personal information
  6. Answer the questions you see on the screen
  7. Upload all the required supporting documents
  8. Finally, you click on ‘submit

How to Check NSFAS Application Status

In order to check NSFAS Application Status, you must follow the simple steps below:

  1. Visit the NSFAS Status website: www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Then, log in to your myNSFAS account
  3. Enter your User ID
  4. Type in the password you created during the application process.
  5. Click “Track Funding Progress” to check your NSFAS Application Status.
