Nsfas Application Dates 2023-2024: National Student Financial Aid Scheme(NSFAS) online application for the 2024-2025 academic year will be opening on 2 November and will be closing on 21 January 2024. All applicants wanting to apply for NSFAS should visit the NSFAS website www.nsfas.org.za. There will be no late application for NSFAS Funding in 2024 so applicants are advised to submit their online application on time before the deadline. The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will require more information from you in order to process your application, so you need to provide the following supporting documents to make sure that your application is successful.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS DURING THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Provide your own cellphone number and email address
You must have a copy of your ID or birth certificate
National ID copies of parents, guardians, or spouse
The evidence of your income or 1 year’s IRP5 if necessary
The proof of income of your parents, guardian, or spouse.
If you are a SASSA grant recipient, you don’t need to provide any evidence of income.
All Applicants with a disability should provide and submit a completed and signed Disability Annexure A Form
An applicant who is known as a Vulnerable Child by the Department of Social Development should also provide a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration and Consent Form.

How to Apply for NSFAS Online Application when opened

You can fill out the NSFAS Online Application for 2024 on your computer, iPad, or any other smartphone. Make sure you have all of your supporting documentation and that you are eligible to apply before applying online. Continue the online application procedure if you meet the NSFAS Application criteria for 2024. Follow the steps below to get started:

Visit the NSFAS Application website: www.nsfas.org.za
Then, you click on the ‘myNSFAS’ tab

Who qualifies for NSFAS funding?

All South African citizens
All SASSA grant recipients qualify for funding
Applicants whose combined household income is not more than R350 000 per annum
A person with a disability: Combined household income must not be more than R600 000 per annum
Students who started studying before 2018 and whose household income is not more than R122 000 per annum.

Nsfas application opening and closing date

Every application has its opening and closing date for applicants. The documents below show the opening and closing dates for the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS). Before knowing the opening and closing date for NSFAS, kindly the general instructions for the scheme to avoid rejection of the application.

Nsfas General Instruction for Applicants

Note. Before filling out the application form, please read the following notes carefully. Make sure you read all of the sections and that the information you supply is correct.
Every page of the application form, as well as every page of all supporting documents, must have your identity (ID) number written in the top right-hand corner.
NSFAS will not process application forms that do not include ALL supporting papers.
Only the first application received by NSFAS will be processed. Please do not submit multiple applications unless NSFAS specifically demands it.
NSFAS needs either a cell phone number or email address to communicate with you during the application process. If you do not already have an email address, you can create a free email account on Google at www.gmail.com, or on Yahoo at www.yahoo.co.za or any other free email service.
If your application is approved, NSFAS will pay a portion of your student allowances via cell phone vouchers using the cell phone number you provided on the application form.
Please open a bank account with any bank, such as Postbank, ABSA, Capitec, FNB, Standard Bank, Nedbank, or others, if you do not already have one. Some student allowances will be deposited directly into your bank account.

Incidental/personal care allowance of R2900 per annum for students in catered residences

Cover accommodation in an urban area for R24,000 per annum
Cover accommodation in a peri-urban area for R18,900 per annum
Cover accommodation in a rural area for R15,750 per annum
Cover Transport (up to 40 km from the institution) R7,350 per annum
